Male Facelift & Neck Lift
Dr. Brooke R. Seckel
Male facelift and neck lift are specialized facelift and neck lift techniques for men to remove aging changes such as a loose skin, sagging skin wrinkles and folds in the face and neck.
Special considerations and techniques for facelift and neck lift in men include:
The facial and neck skin is lifted off the underlying muscles, the muscles are tightened with the SMAS technique, to aid in the lifting of the heavy male facial tissues. Drains are always used because of increased blood supply to the male face to eliminate the risk of hematoma.
Yes, when performed by a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who is experienced in male facelift techniques.
You will feel very tight after your male neck lift and facelift. The tissues are tightened enough to prevent return of loose skin after your facelift. The feeling of tightness will go away after the first week. There is possibility of more bruising in men after facelift and neck lift then in women. It can take up to 3 weeks for the bruising to go away but it is usually lower in the neck and easily covered by a turtleneck. Patients do not complain of pain rather the main complaint is tightness. Pain medications are given to control any discomfort.
You will see the result of your male facelift and neck lift the first day when the bandage comes off. I prefer to keep all of all of my face and neck lift patients in the hospital the first night for your comfort. The next morning the dressing is will be removed you will shower and go home without a bandage. On day 2 and day 3 swelling becomes much more apparent and bruising appears.
You should plan on a 2-3 week recovery. The duration of recovery really depends on the time it takes for bruising and swelling to go away. After the first week makeup can be used to cover any bruising. Wait 6 weeks before having photographs taken and or to attend important social events.
Your final results should be apparent by 6 weeks, but final natural appearance can take a few months.
I recommend a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and who is experienced at and comfortable with male facelift and neck lift. Not all plastic surgeons are comfortable with male facelift and neck lift and you should ask the specific question of the surgeon you consult.
